The wind howled louder than a pack of wolves singing in tune, chilling the bodies and hearts of those who dared plow through the blizzard. With paws numb and fur flecked with snow and ice, the three travelers press onward. The green-gray wolf who led, Gabu, had a very weak Mei laying on his back. The goat had taken a fall on the way up to the heights, leaving him unable to walk without stumbling. The wolf and their newly acquainted - well, not so newly acquainted after having been together for a few months - partner, Ash, took turns carrying the helpless scrap of wool up the mountain. Glancing back at her now, Gabu watched their companion.

With her head ducked and ears slanted back to avoid the wind and snow, it was easy to tell that, just like himself, she was exhausted. There was no shelter up here on the mountain. Gabu and Mei had made the trip a year ago themselves in order to escape their critical families who disagreed with their friendship, but this was Ash's first time and it was obvious.

The wind picked up, causing the two to stop in their tracks and brace themselves. Snow and icy air billowed against them and, without warning, both wolves toppled over at the force of the wind. Flipping over to a stand, Ash stood up the best she could and noticed Gabu follow suite. But Mei lay on the ground, cold and shivering and seemingly unconscious. At this, Gabu panicked.

"Mei!" he shouted fretfully, shaking the goat with his paw to try and rouse him. No effect. He repeated his name several times, each time holding a more desperate tone than the last. Pushing her muzzle into his shoulder to get his attention, Ash looked Gabu in the eyes.

"He'll make it," she said confidently. Her own eyes shone with worry for Mei and Gabu knew that, even though she wasn't his best friend like he was, that she cared for him. Shaking herself, the gray wolf barked, "We need to get to shelter. There's no way we can do this."

Nodding shakily, Gabu looked around. Ash nosed Mei as if to try and wake him herself, but there was no response. "We can do two things," she said, voice rising over the wind. "You lay with Mei and keep him warm while I dig out a den, or vice versa." The male wolf looked at his female companion then at Mei. He had done this before. He would do it again.

"Stay with Mei," he ordered. "I'll go dig." With a nod, Ash laid herself down and curled around little Mei as much as she could to block out the wind. At this, Gabu turned and took off for the nearest snow mound, numb paws aching but burning with the fire of determination.



Some One Stormy Night artwork. Haven't drawn these guys in awhile ^^. I miss themmm. This scene goes along with the fanfic I had made for them looong ago. No you can't read it, cause it's not typed out. =P The only bits you'll get to read are the dialogue I put in the artist description.

I'm thinking of drawing a series of pictures to go along with this one just so I can draw more fanart for it. I really want to. I may just do that xD.

Ash looks different...
Why yes, she does. I'm starting to add variety to the multiple universes I've been putting her in. For instance, the difference with her here compared to the 'sona version is that she has no wrist bands or a necklace. I am going to make a chart soon to show you what differences there are between Ash and the universes I put her in. When not drawing personal pictures, I use her as an OC for rp/story purposes. You'll see xD.

The drawing is touching and the story is well written. Even though I've only read this bit of their story, I fell in love with your characters personalities and looks.

The only design and personality I can take credit for are Ash's(the silver/gray wolf), the other two, Gabu and Mei, belong to an anime film known as Arashi No Yoru Ni, or One Stormy Night in english.
